A few of my favourite fabrics and why I enjoy working with them

Working with so many fabrics it can be hard to choose a favourite, I thought that I would share some of my recent favourites.

Scandi Style

This fabric from James Hare was absolutely stunning made into roman blinds, the embroidered panels are exquisite, embroidered on beautiful linen the roman blinds had a real air of elegance showing the embroidery off to its best

The colourway that was chosen (pink/green) was so restful, it created a haven of calm in an uncluttered scandi style bedroom.

Velvets

Velvet has made itself very popular again, it always adds a real touch of luxury to any room, no longer are all velvets plain colours. There is a vast choice of printed velvets, some have a beautiful lustre that catches the light, especially in the evening when you have lights turned on. Some velvets are printed against the nap creating depth of colour and a touch of drama.

Lining Fabrics

Lining fabric does not have to be just plain; I love working with Ian Sanderson printed cotton that is designed to be used as lining, however it is also very pretty when used as your main fabric for curtains or blinds, and can be used for other soft furnishings, think cushions or lamp shades. The range is called little compliments, as the name suggests the prints are all little delicate designs and are sourced from Ian Sanderson archives. There is the cutest of animal print, fine stripes or a tiny fern like design, which is one of my personal favourites. I have used this fabric to line blinds creating interest when you look at your windows from the outside too.
